Summary

Grounds Maintenance Operative: Fixed-Term Contract

Salary: £12.30 per hour plus Veolia benefits and company pension

Hours: 37 hours weekly between:

07:00 - 15:00 Monday to Thursday.

07:00 - 14:30 Fridays

Location: Solihull, B91 2LW, Moat lane depot

Fixed Term Contract:

Start: March 16th or 23rd 2026 End date: 30th October 2026

What you'll be doing;

  • Maintain and enhance public spaces through comprehensive grounds care, including lawn maintenance, planting, landscape upkeep, and litter removal, while ensuring safety and cleanliness.
  • Various tasks including but are not limited to, grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, pruning, bin servicing, litter picking, as well as shrub and flower bed maintenance and more.
  • Conduct daily inspections using vehicle check books, equipment check books, and HAVS (Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome) books, adhering to guidelines in theDriver/Operator handbook to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Ensure that each day all completed work is detailed on your daily worksheet/tablet.
  • Complying with all traffic laws and legislation in relation to your duties including the security and weight of loads.
  • Conform with all applicable site rules when offloading at disposal sites.
  • Conform with all depot site rules and procedures.
  • Carry out any other duties that may be required as directed by your line manager.

What we're looking for;

Essential:

  • Good knowledge of health and safety.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in an outdoor environment.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Instructional compliance: Able to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Communication: Able to communicate effectively with team members,supervisors and members of the public.

Desirable:

  • Prior Grounds maintenance experience.
  • A full, valid UK driving licence
