Sous Chef – Care Home - £33,000

Our client, a well-established care home, is looking for a talented Chef to join their team. Set in a beautiful manor house, this welcoming home provides high-quality care for older adults, offering a warm and comfortable environment where residents feel truly at home.

As a Chef will be responsible for preparing delicious, nutritious meals that cater to a variety of dietary needs, ensuring residents enjoy both the taste and health benefits of every dish.

Before You Apply

  • This role requires recent experience as a Chef in a care home, healthcare or similar regulated setting.
  • You must be confident managing a kitchen independently and meeting food safety standards.
  • A valid Food Hygiene Certificate and clear DBS are required.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience as a Chef in a care home, nursing home or healthcare setting
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or higher)
  • Strong understanding of nutrition and special dietary requirements
  • Ability to manage a kitchen independently
  • Clear enhanced DBS check

Desirable

  • Experience preparing texture-modified diets (IDDSI framework)
  • Allergen awareness training

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals for residents, including specialist and texture-modified diets
  • Plan and rotate menus in line with dietary guidance and resident needs
  • Maintain full compliance with food hygiene, allergen and HACCP requirements
  • Manage stock ordering, storage and kitchen budgets
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised and inspection-ready
  • Liaise with care staff regarding individual dietary requirements
