Summary
Are you ready to take your electrical engineering career to new heights? Imagine working at the forefront of the energy industry, designing innovative solutions that power communities and shape a greener tomorrow. UK Power Networks invites you to become an integral part of our Capital Programme directorate as an Electrical Design Engineer, based in either our Crawley or Maidstone office.
We offer a competitive salary of £65,241.00, plus a 3% bonus for your expertise and dedication.
Your role will see you produce high quality electrical designs across a diverse Assets and Connections Portfolio, ensuring all deliverables meet UK Power Networks and CDM standards. Whether you're working on contestable or non-contestable projects, you'll deliver designs on time, within budget and to the highest standards. Your expertise will enable you to prepare both concept and developed designs, contribute to technical, commercial and contractual documentation for procurement, and uphold compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and company procedures.
You'll work independently, construct designs in line with Codes of Practice and industry standards, and collaborate with operational teams to ensure a seamless process from initial enquiry through to final energisation and project close. Your commitment to health and safety will be paramount, as you support colleagues and uphold the best practices of Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations. This position includes site visits to operational substations, where strict adherence to safety rules is essential.
UK Power Networks seeks candidates with a background in electrical engineering and experience in power system and protection design at 132KV, 33KV, 11KV and intermediate voltages. A degree or equivalent in engineering or science is required, and we'll support your progress towards chartership. You should be familiar with DNO, ENA and international design standards, possess a sound safety culture, and demonstrate proficiency in project management, financial awareness, and the use of Microsoft applications and AutoCAD or MicroStation. An appreciation for current technological developments and a broad understanding of cables and overhead lines will set you apart.
We are committed to equal opportunities and diversity-regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or veteran status. At UK Power Networks, you'll find a workplace where you can thrive and make a real impact.
Take the next step in your career and help us power the future. Apply now before the closing date of 01/03/2026 and join a team that values your skills and ambition.
