Summary

Calderdale Adult Learning is on a journey to become an exceptional provider, with learners at the centre of everything we do. We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, and adaptable tutor to deliver learning on our ENGAGE programme, supporting adult learners who are often taking their first steps back into education, training, or employment.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing, community focused provision that supports learners to rebuild confidence, improve wellbeing, and progress towards positive next steps.

The role involves delivering wellbeing and confidence focused employability courses to adult learners who may be uncertain about their future direction. Teaching experience is essential, within adult or community education. The successful candidate will assess learners’ starting points and plan and deliver inclusive, learner centred sessions that are accessible, engaging, and responsive. Delivery will focus on creating a safe, supportive and low pressure learning environment, helping learners to re engage with learning at a pace that is right for them.

You will take a creative and flexible approach to teaching, using a range of activities and methods to build self confidence, motivation, resilience and wellbeing, while providing learners with a practical grounding in employability skills. This includes supporting learners to develop communication skills, understand workplace behaviours, and build basic essential skills. You will be confident working in a multi disciplinary way, blending wellbeing, employability, personal development and essential skills to help learners recognise their strengths and potential.

An important part of the role is providing high quality information, advice and guidance (IAG), supporting learners to explore realistic and meaningful next steps into employment, training, volunteering or further learning. You will monitor learner progress, celebrate achievements, and adapt delivery to maintain engagement and build confidence over time.

You will be a strong team player, flexible, proactive and learner focused, with the ability to respond sensitively to barriers such as anxiety, low confidence or previous negative experiences of education. You will be committed to embedding wider skills in your teaching, including British Values, Safeguarding and Prevent, Equality and Diversity, to ensure learners feel safe, valued and supported to achieve their goals.

A minimum of a Level 3 teaching qualification alongside a proven track record of teaching adult learners.
