Salaried General Practitioner Sessions: 4 to 6 per week Location: Seaton (main site) and Beer (branch surgery), East Devon Accountable to: GP Partners (clinically); Practice Manager (admin) Job Purpose To provide high-quality, patient-centred primary medical care within a supportive multidisciplinary team. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of routine and urgent GP services, clinical supervision (where appropriate), care home provision, and wider practice responsibilities in line with NHS contractual requirements. Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities Provide face-to-face, telephone and online consultations for acute and chronic conditions. Assess, diagnose and manage patients in accordance with current clinical guidance and best practice. Prescribe safely and cost-effectively in line with local and national guidance. Manage pathology results, clinical correspondence and workflow in a timely manner. Undertake Duty Doctor responsibilities on an agreed day (Tuesday or Wednesday). Hold a proportionate patient list to support continuity of care. Complete care home rounds (specific arrangements to be agreed with partners). Provide pathology and workflow support cover in the absence of other GPs. Supervisory and Training Responsibilities Act as a GP Supervisor where required, in line with practice training status. Contribute to the education and development of medical students and trainees, where appropriate. Practice and Governance Responsibilities Participate in clinical meetings, practice meetings and quality improvement activity. Contribute to QOF and enhanced service delivery. Engage in clinical audit and reflective practice. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records. Comply with GMC guidance and NHS contractual requirements. Working Pattern Preferred working days: Tuesday and Wednesday (flexibility may be discussed). Session structure currently includes 15-minute face-to-face appointments. The session planner is under review to align with upcoming GP contract changes and development of a more efficient online consultation model, with a focus on maintaining sustainable workload.
