Calderdale’s SEND & Inclusion Team are part of the Borough’s Children and Young People’s Services and have a strong commitment to ensuring educational inclusion and best outcomes for every child / young person.

An opportunity has arisen to join Calderdale’s Specialist Inclusion Team on a casual basis. The Specialist Inclusion Team support Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to access education within their mainstream setting, and to live full and aspirational lives.

We are looking for qualified teachers with extensive SEND experience to join one or more of our teams on a casual basis. This will mean stepping in and out of casework as and when needed to support service capacity. We can currently consider applications into our Autism, HI, VI & MSI and EY/Portage outreach teams. Teams each deliver outreach advice and support to schools/colleges to meet the needs of Children and Young People with SEND across Primary, Secondary and Post 16 phases.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of their area of specialism and draw upon their prior knowledge and experience of working with CYP with SEND, to deliver appropriate advice and support to schools/colleges to facilitate the effective delivery of Universal, Targeted and Specialist strategies within the Graduated Approach.


Please note that successful candidates must have the capacity to work across all age phases, with the exception of those applying to the EY/Portage team.

The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate a strong commitment to developing professional relationships with children and young people with a diverse range of needs, their families and multi-agency professionals, working collaboratively towards agreed outcomes.
