Hays Education are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (L2) to join their team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them to thrive in a positive, nurturing environment.
About the Role
You will work closely with class teachers to support teaching and learning across the primary age range. Your focus will be on assisting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs, delivering targeted small‑group interventions, and contributing to an engaging and supportive learning atmosphere.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting teaching and learning under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Delivering small‑group interventions to close gaps and meet specific SEN/SEMH requirements.
- Helping maintain a purposeful and supportive classroom environment.
- Promoting inclusion and providing equal learning opportunities for all pupils.
- Encouraging positive behaviour in line with school policies.
- Monitoring and recording pupil progress, resolving routine issues independently.
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at all times.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Confidence using initiative, while also knowing when to seek guidance.
- Strong commitment to inclusion, high achievement, pastoral care and safeguarding.

- Good IT skills and willingness to learn school-specific systems.
