We have an exciting opportunity for a new Deputy Store Manager to assist in running our Devonshire Road Store.
Devonshire Road is one of Weston Hospicecare’s most important retail locations and our third largest income-generating store. It is an eclectic shop with a broad mix of furniture, fashion and general retail, making it a varied and interesting place to work. The Deputy Manager plays a key role in supporting the Store Manager to keep the shop running smoothly and performing well.
What you’ll be doing:
• Supporting the Store Manager with the day-to-day running of the store.
• Taking responsibility for opening and closing the shop and acting as Duty Manager when required.
• Supporting and guiding paid staff and volunteers during shifts.
• Helping to maintain strong standards of customer service, merchandising and stock flow.
• Assisting with operational tasks including gift aid, stock processing, compliance and health & safety.
• Stepping in to cover the Store Manager role during periods of absence.
What we’re looking for:
• Experience working in a retail or charity retail environment.
• An interest in developing people and building confidence in leading others.
• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to take on responsibility.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise day-to-day tasks.
• Basic IT skills and a positive attitude to learning new systems.
What we offer:
- 6.6 weeks of annual leave (pro rata), increasing with length of service
- Contributory pension scheme, with option to transfer from NHS pension (subject to eligibility)
- Employee assistance programme and access to discounted healthcare services
- Subsidised travel with First Bus and free on-site parking
- A welcoming, inclusive, and values-led workplace where your contribution truly matters
- Cycle to work scheme
This role offers a clear development opportunity within our retail structure, while directly supporting the income that funds care for local people and their families.
An Enhanced DBS check will be required (arranged and paid for by us).
We value and encourage applications from all sections of the community.
