Are you a patient, resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful difference in a child's school experience? Hays Education is working closely with a welcoming and nurturing primary school in the Clayton‑le‑Moors area, and we are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Behavioural Teaching Assistant to join their team.

Your new role
In this role, you will work on a one‑to‑one basis with a primary-aged pupil who requires additional behavioural and emotional support. You will help them access learning, manage emotions, build positive routines, and develop strategies that promote success both in and out of the classroom.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the pupil with emotional regulation and behaviour management
  • Implementing tailored interventions and de-escalation strategies
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo to follow an individual support plan
  • Encouraging positive engagement with learning and social activities
  • Building a trusting, supportive relationship with the pupil

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with children with behavioural, SEMH, or additional needs
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Confidence using behaviour management strategies
  • The ability to form positive, professional relationships
  • A genuine desire to help children thrive
  • A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one through Hays)
