Summary

Our client, a thriving secondary school located in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.

As a Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal development of students with special educational needs. You will work closely with the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator), teachers, and other support staff to ensure that each student receives the individualised attention and resources they require to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, including those with physical, cognitive, or social-emotional disabilities
- Assisting in the delivery of tailored learning programmes and strategies to meet the specific needs of each student
- Collaborating with teachers to adapt lesson plans, resources, and assessment methods to accommodate the unique learning styles and abilities of SEN students
- Maintaining detailed records of student progress, behaviour, and any interventions implemented
- Attending and contributing to meetings with parents, teachers, and other professionals to discuss student progress and plan next steps
- Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting students with SEN
- Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students, with a particular focus on those with special educational needs

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A relevant qualification in education, such as a Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with students with special educational needs, either in a school or a similar educational setting
- A deep understanding of the various types of special educational needs and the strategies and resources required to support them
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students with diverse learning needs to reach their full potential
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest SEN teaching practices and legislation
