Summary
Support extraordinary young people to thrive
Do you love working with young people and enjoy helping them grow in confidence and resilience? We’re looking for someone who can support young carers to feel heard, valued and able to take time out from caring. This role blends meaningful emotional support with the creativity and fun of groups, activities, day trips and residential experiences. If you bring warmth, energy and a genuine desire to make a difference, you could be just the person our young carers need.
Who we are
North Argyll Carers Centre is an independent charity, dedicated to providing exceptional person‑centred emotional and practical support to unpaid carers across the Oban, Lorn and Isles area. We provide vital support to those who provide care, on an unpaid basis, to a family member or friend who due to illness, disability, frailty or addiction could not manage without their help. Our team is committed to creating a warm, welcoming environment where every carer feels valued and supported.
The Role
As a Young Carer Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting young carers aged 5 - 18 across the Oban, Lorn and Isles area. You’ll provide emotional and practical support, advocate for their needs, and help them access opportunities that give them breathing space from their caring roles.
No two days will ever be the same. One day you might be running an after‑school group, the next planning a trip or working with a school to make sure a young carer gets the support they need to achieve their aspirations.
You’ll be supported by a close-knit team, with training, supervision and guidance to ensure you feel confident in the role.
Your role will include:
· Providing one‑to‑one, person‑centred support to young carers
· Helping to plan and deliver after‑school groups, activities, residentials and holiday sessions that give young carers time for themselves
· Working with schools, families and other professionals to ensure young carers are recognised and supported
· Helping young carers develop their Young Carer Statements
· Keeping accurate records and working closely with colleagues to provide a safe, positive environment
Hours: Part Time, 30 hours per week
Salary: £21,044.40 per annum (£13.49 hourly rate)
Contract: Permanent
Closing Date: Midnight, Sunday 8th March 2026
