Over View
HMP & YOI New Hall is a closed female prison in Flockton, Wakefield and serves a community of around 350 prisoners. Many of our prisoners have complex needs and have lived chaotic lifestyles, therefore this role is both challenging and rewarding in equal measure. Working as a team and within the larger prison organisation we seek to help prisoners find their self-worth and rehabilitate back into society.
Summary of the role
The job holder will provide for the religious care of prisoners and staff in the Roman Catholic faith tradition including sacramental provision, and appropriate pastoral care for all irrespective of faith or tradition.
The job holder will work with colleagues to ensure the delivery of the specification “Faith and Pastoral Care” [psi-05-2016-faith-pastoral-care-prisoners.pdf] , and also the broader work of chaplaincy in delivering faith and non-faith based courses. Will contribute to the process by which the Governor and Head of Chaplaincy/Profession at HQ are assured that the specification is being delivered.
The job holder will engage with and build contacts with their own faith community towards aiding the resettlement of offenders.
This is a non-operational job with no line management or supervisory responsibilities. this role is not suitable for Hybrid working.
