Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Patient Services Coordinator to join the Operations Centre on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, expected to start in May 2026. Applications for secondment are welcome with prior line management approval. The Operations Centre is a 24/7 service providing real time operational oversight across all LTHT sites. Acting as a central hub, it monitors patient flow, coordinates resources, and supports clinical and non clinical teams to ensure safe, efficient and responsive care. By maintaining a Trust wide view of activity, the Centre plays a vital role in managing capacity, responding to pressures, and supporting smooth day to day operations. The Assistant Patient Services Coordinator supports the operational and administrative processes that underpin patient flow and discharge, helping ensure patients receive timely, well coordinated care. The role requires strong teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment. The APSC supports the operational and administrative functions that underpin patient flow and discharge across the Trust. The role ensures patients receive timely, wellorganised care by coordinating key processes and facilitating communication across clinical and nonclinical teams. Key responsibilities include: Compiling and distributing daily reports on patient activity, occupancy and operational metrics. Coordinating timely, safe repatriations to referring or local hospitals. Monitoring and escalating delays to support timely discharge. Liaising with regional transport services to arrange appropriate patient transfers. Supporting identification and tracking of longstay patients, including minuting and actiontracking. Providing administrative support for weekly discharge leads meetings, including agendas, minutes and followup actions. Delivering general administrative support such as document preparation, data collation and handling enquiries. The postholder must: Demonstrate excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and system partners. Be diplomatic, motivated, professional and maintain confidentiality. Communicate sensitively with colleagues and healthcare professionals. Respect shared office environments. Maintain a businesslike appearance and undertake required training. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is essential. This post covers the whole of LTHT and is based cross site between LGI and SJUH. Please note the role does not include line management responsibilities.
