We’re seeking a Commercial & Digital Director to join our Executive Team, based at our London Bridge Head Office.

As the first Train Operator to integrate track and train under a single leadership team, Southeastern is entering a defining chapter, modernising our railway, elevating customer experience and moving towards Great British Railways.

This is a moment for bold leadership, vision, and turning today’s opportunities into tomorrow’s transformation.

Can you move people? Apply now.

What you’ll do

As our Commercial & Digital Director, you will set the commercial tempo and digital direction of Southeastern, shaping the strategies, technologies and partnerships that secure the long‑term success of our railway.

This is a pivotal Executive role, responsible for:

  • Driving the commercial performance of the business, delivering growth and reducing subsidy
  • Leading our digital and technology strategy, ensuring we adopt modern, customer‑focused and future‑proofed solutions
  • Owning revenue generation, including fares, retail channels, revenue management, marketing, brand, and commercial partnerships
  • Transforming our use of data, enabling better decision‑making across the organisation
  • Championing innovation, challenging convention and unlocking new revenue opportunities
  • Representing Southeastern at a national level, shaping policy and contributing to commercial leadership across the industry

You will work closely with Executive colleagues, the Department for Transport, DFTO and the Rail Delivery Group, influencing not just South Eastern Railway’s future, but the future of integrated rail across the UK.

This is an opportunity to lead an ambitious directorate, spearhead commercial and digital change, and ensure South Eastern Railway continues to thrive in a modernising industry.

The experience you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Inspirational senior leadership, ready to guide a large, diverse directorate
  • Commercial expertise with a track record of designing and delivering revenue strategies at scale
  • Digital leadership experience; comfortable leading technology teams, digital transformation and complex system portfolios
  • Financial acumen, with the ability to translate data into decisions that drive business performance
  • Strategic creativity, always asking “what if?” and challenging what’s possible
  • Exceptional stakeholder leadership, navigating complexity and aligning multiple organisations
  • Commercial & contractual fluency, with experience of large‑scale supplier management and investment decisions
  • A CIM or equivalent qualification in marketing (advantageous but not essential)

This role requires someone who can inspire, innovate and influence…someone who can lead South Eastern Railway into its next era.

As proud members of the Armed Forces Covenant and Disability Confident Scheme, we will offer you an interview if you apply under these schemes and meet the minimum criteria for the role. Find out more here.
