Summary

Reed are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Fox’s Burton’s Companies (FBC UK) for a full‑time, permanent Dispatch Operator role based at their Edinburgh site (EH11 4HN). This position works on night shifts, running Monday to Friday from 10pm to 6am, and offers a competitive pay rate of £13.61 per hour, paid weekly in arrears.

FBC UK proudly bake some of the nation’s favourite biscuits—although they’ll happily admit they may be a little biased. The company was created through the joining of Burton’s Biscuits and Fox’s Biscuits, forming one integrated business responsible for iconic brands such as Maryland, Fox’s, Jammie Dodger and Rocky, while also producing biscuits for major UK retailers and household names.

People sit at the heart of FBC UK’s success. They love individuals who bring energy, fresh ideas and enthusiasm, whether you’re the jammy to their dodger, the party ring to their Fox’s or the choc‑chip to their Maryland. They are already the second‑largest biscuit manufacturer in the UK, with a clear ambition to become the market leader.

This Dispatch Operator role is based in the dispatch area, where all packaging for biscuit products is stored. Your role will involve moving stock and pallets using PPT and FLT equipment, along with completing accurate booking‑in and booking‑out of products. You’ll follow all Food Safety Standards, wear the correct PPE, and take responsibility for both your own safety and the safety of others. You’ll also stay up to date with training, contribute to a clean‑as‑you‑go environment, and support high hygiene standards at all times.

Teamwork plays a major part in dispatch, and you’ll help to maintain a strong safety‑first culture. You’ll collect palletised stock from the production area, ensure it is shrink wrapped, and then load vehicles with finished goods using scan systems and planned loading instructions. Accurate documentation and labelling is an important part of the job, and smooth communication with colleagues—especially during handover periods—helps everything run efficiently.

To thrive in this role, you should enjoy working as part of a team, but also feel confident using your own initiative. Experience in machine operation or a manufacturing environment is helpful, but not essential. What really matters is your ability to problem‑solve, react confidently to issues and work with minimal supervision. Strong numeracy, good communication, reliability, and a flexible, self‑motivated attitude will all help you succeed. Experience in food manufacturing, understanding hygiene and safety standards, and being trained in forklift counterbalance, reach or PPT equipment would be beneficial.
