About the Direct Payment Holder
A close-knit care team in St Albans is expanding to support a 25-year-old autistic adult with severe autism, learning difficulties, and anxiety. The goal is to help him increase his independence and confidence as part of his transition from family care to 24/7 professional support in his own home.

The individual requires 2:1 support at all times to ensure the safety of himself, his staff, and the wider community. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting adults with complex needs to live fulfilling, independent lives.

Hours and rate of pay £14.00 - £17.33 per hour, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7am – 5pm (20 hours per week)

Various positions available - full/part time. Building a team of PAs to support 24/7
Location St Albans

DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check

Right to Work and references will be needed.

Training

Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
• Safeguarding Adults
• Introduction to first aid
• Health and Safety

What you would be doing…

Support daily routines and personal care (such as bathing and toileting, once trust has been established)
Assist with meal preparation and food support
Accompany and encourage participation in community activities and day centres
Build a trusting, positive relationship through patience, consistency, and understanding
Promote independence, communication, and engagement in enjoyable and meaningful activities
Morning support and preparation for the day
Attending activities such as day centres, swimming, the gym, or walks
Preparing and serving meals
Supporting with leisure activities such as football, live music, pantomimes, and outdoor events

Required skills and experience
Must hold a UK driving licence (Motability car provided – small automatic)
Must be a non-smoker
Willing to provide personal care (after relationship-building period)
Comfortable preparing food and supporting with meals
Flexible, reliable, patient, and professional
Able to work as part of a dedicated team
Experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, or in 1:1 / 2:1 settings is desirable but not essential
Willingness to learn and follow individual support and behaviour plans
