We are looking for a Materials Planning Manager to join our client’s team based in Wrexham on a permanent basis. The Materials Planning Manager position encompasses responsibility for the department and all planning and supply chain activities at the site. You will lead the development and optimisation of the manufacturing and operations planning team and processes.
Performance Objectives
• Responsible for ensuring that project, service, and sales order demand are effectively incorporated into a unified planning framework.
• Managing, mentoring, and guiding your team to execute against the departments targets.
• Publish and manage planner KPI’s.
• Management of the department resources to achieve strategic objectives as well as routine activities.
• Development of early warning systems to protect KPI’s.
• Drive initiatives within the internal and external supply chain to enhance material availability.
• Build long term supplier relationships promoting best practices.
• Manage premium freight and transport spend.
• Ensuring schedule adherence to SAP.
• Maintain and improve Business KPI’s relating to the Materials Department.
• Ensure company safety policy is adhered to.
• Ensure appropriate processes and systems are implemented to effectively manage the routine materials planning.
• Manage material planning/expediting team covering an extensive supply base.
• SAP transactional performance including parked invoices.
• Ensure PI cycle count standards are met monthly.
Person Specification
• Experience in a management role within a similar supply chain environment.
• Strong understanding of process management.
• You will possess strong Excel and data management skills.
• Have a sound knowledge of SAP.
• A sharp eye for identifying weak points in processes and organisational structures.
• You will demonstrate an awareness of wider business issues and supplier relationships to foresee obstacles before they arise and can think laterally to resolve problems.
• Excellent influencing skills.
• Confidence in your abilities to lead organisational change.
• Expected to be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and be capable of working at all levels within the organisation.
• The successful candidate will have proven experience in updating and managing ERP/MRP systems, driving process improvements, and building a robust planning function that supports operational excellence.
