Location: HR6, North Herefordshire
Days & Hours: Bank hours to cover absences of the current team. Typical shifts are listed below.

Term-time hours:
Week 1: Monday-Friday 7.00am-9.00am, Monday-Friday 3.15pm-6.30pm. Saturday 9.00am-Sunday 6.30pm (includes a sleeping night)
Week 2: Monday-Friday 7.00am-9.00am, Monday-Friday 3.15pm-6.30pm. Sunday 10.00am-6.30pm

School holidays: Shift start times may start slightly earlier at 9am dependent on James’s needs
Week 1: Monday-Friday 10am-6.30pm.The first week of the school holiday will incorporate a sleeping night on the Monday (shift will be 10am-6.30pm the following day), Sunday 10.00am-6.30pm
Week 2: Monday-Friday 10am-6.30pm.Monday and Saturday (shift will be 10am-6.30pm the following day and will incorporate 2 sleeping nights a week)

Pay:

Monday to Friday days: £17.00 per hour
Weekend and bank holiday days: £19.00 per hour
Monday to Friday sleeping nights: National Living wage (currently £12.21 for workers aged 21 or over)
Weekend Sleeping nights: National Living wage + £1
Driver required? Essential (will need own car to get to work)
Driving Clients Car? Yes, our clients Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV), automatic
Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? Yes, On duty and to attend trainings
Essential Experience: Experience of working with children with special needs and with confidence to work with complex medical needs,
Desirable: Experience of working with children with a visual impairment, An interest in therapy, PEG feeding.
Pets: 1 dog (medium sized)
Accommodation (while on duty): Carers bedroom and separate bathroom.

Introducing James
We are seeking a patient, fun and bubbly Bank Support Worker to support James, who is 11 years old. He lives at home with his family who are very close and love to spend time together. James attends the siblings football matches, enjoys hydrotherapy and rebound therapy (trampolining) along with sensory activities, and he loves his 60's music and going to school where he receives 1:1 support.

James has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy, is severely visually impaired, and non-mobile, he requires all his care needs met and uses a PEG for his fluids, and a wheelchair for mobility. He is unable to regulate his temperature which can cause him to have seizures.

Your role as his Support Worker will be to support with getting up and dressed in the mornings, ready for school, after school to support changing and eating his dinner, bathing or showering and taking his medication. On the weekends, you will support him during his hydrotherapy on a 2:1 care basis and during any other activities, either with or without his family members. You will also assist with chores around the family home.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident person to join a dedicated home care team and develop existing skills to support James and the family. A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.

Pay and Benefits:
Monday to Friday days: £17.00 per hour, Weekend and Bank holiday days: £19.00 per hour, Monday to Friday sleeping nights: National Living wage (currently £12.21 for workers aged 21 or over), Weekend Sleeping nights: National Living wage + £1
5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
Pension (subject to qualifying status)
