Summary

Make it attractive, not lengthy.

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Finance Administrator to join our busy and welcoming school office team at Longford Park Primary School.

What is the job role?

Working under the direction of the School Business Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth and efficient financial management of the school. From processing purchase orders and invoices to reconciling payments, supporting budget monitoring, and maintaining accurate financial records, you will help ensure that school resources are managed effectively and in line with financial procedures.

This is a varied role that combines finance and administration. You will manage the finance inbox, support VAT claims, assist with forward budgeting of service level agreements, reconcile payments (including online payments and Tax-Free Childcare), and help ensure compliance with audit and data protection requirements. Accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.

Alongside your financial responsibilities, you will also be part of the wider administrative team and act as a first point of contact for parents, visitors and callers. You will contribute to maintaining a professional, welcoming and well-organised front-of-house service, supporting the Senior Leadership Team and colleagues across the school as required.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, systems and people — and who thrives in a busy school environment where no two days are quite the same.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a proactive, organised and reliable individual who takes pride in accuracy and delivering high-quality work.

You will have strong numeracy skills and excellent attention to detail, with experience of carrying out routine financial tasks such as processing purchase orders and invoices, reconciling payments and maintaining accurate records. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and Outlook) is essential, and experience of working within a school office environment or using a school MIS such as Bromcom would be advantageous.

You will be confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including parents, staff, senior leaders and external agencies. The ability to remain calm, professional and approachable — particularly in a busy school environment — is key. We are looking for someone who can manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team.

A strong understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and data protection is essential, along with a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Above all, we are seeking someone who is flexible, positive and committed to supporting the smooth running of the school, and who shares our dedication to providing the very best environment for our pupils and community.

More detailed information can be found on the enclosed job description and person specification documents.
