Summary
Your new company
You will be joining a highly respected independent consultancy specialising in acoustics, noise and vibration. They operate across multiple service areas, including technical consultancy, environmental monitoring, applied research and professional training. Alongside their consultancy work, they also develop innovative acoustic monitoring technology used across the industry to support real‑time assessment, regulatory compliance and data‑driven decision‑making.
My client delivers work across a broad range of sectors - including residential, commercial, education, healthcare and major infrastructure - and is known for providing clear, robust and practical advice that is valued by clients, design teams and local authorities. Their reputation is built on technical excellence, strong communication and a commitment to high‑quality outputs.
A new regional division has recently been created to strengthen support for clients across the South of England. As the team grows, they are looking for consultants who are eager to take on meaningful responsibility, work with autonomy and contribute to the development of a dynamic and forward‑thinking regional practice.
Your new role
As an Acoustic Consultant, you will work predominantly remotely within the South Eastern region. You will collaborate closely with the regional lead, with regular in‑person meetings, so being based within the area is essential.
You will take responsibility for delivering acoustic consultancy projects from initial assessment through to final reporting, covering both environmental and building acoustics. The role includes project-based travel and offers significant autonomy in managing your workload.
Responsibilities may include:
- Conducting environmental noise surveys, vibration measurements and building acoustics testing
- Preparing technical reports for planning, design and compliance purposes
- Supporting the development of noise models (e.g., using SoundPLAN, CadnaA or similar software)
- Reviewing architectural and engineering drawings to advise on acoustic design solutions
- Assessing results against relevant British Standards, guidance and regulatory frameworks
- Liaising directly with clients, contractors, design teams and local authorities
- Contributing to fee proposals, project planning and the preparation of deliverables
- Ensuring accurate data collection, record‑keeping and quality‑controlled outputs
- Managing your own project workload, deadlines and site activities whilst working remotely
What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally bring some significant consultancy experience-particularly within an environment where you've taken projects from start to finish, but less experienced applicants are welcomed, providing you have the following:
- A relevant degree and/or the IOA Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control
- Experience in acoustic consultancy
- Technical understanding of both building and environmental acoustics
- Working knowledge of applicable legislation, British Standards and planning/design guidance
- Confidence communicating with clients, design teams and stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site as required
What you'll get in return
You will join a growing regional division with the opportunity to shape its development and progress your career within a specialist consultancy. In return, you will receive:
- Competitive salary: £30,000 - £35,000 DoE
- Various flexible benefits
- Pension scheme & Annual holidays
- Flexible working (remote)
- Extensive training and development support from an in house mentor
- Exposure to a diverse range of technically challenging and high‑profile projects
