Are you ready to expand your teaching skills while staying clinically active? UHBW is recruiting Clinical Teaching Fellows to join our vibrant South Bristol Academy team.


If you will have worked as a doctor in the NHS for at least two years by August 2026, and are interested in teaching, this could be the job for you.

You'll be at the heart of a busy, supportive, inner‑city teaching hospital—shaping the next generation of medical students while developing your own career in medical education.

You’ll spend 8 sessions a week teaching undergraduate students from the University of Bristol and 2 sessions a week in a specialty of your choice. You’ll also have the chance to complete a fully funded Certificate in Teaching & Learning for Healthcare Professionals.


Teaching responsibilities span Years 1–5, including:

• Year 1: HCA tutorials & weekly clinical attachments

• Year 2: Effective Consulting Clerkship & weekly attachments

• Year 3: Full-time clerkships across medicine, surgery & specialties

• Year 4: Focus on Complex Medicine as part of the ‘life-cycle year’

• Year 5: Assistantships in Acute & Critical Care, Primary Care and Ward-Based Care


You’ll get involved in bedside teaching, small group teaching, tutorials, and helping run assessments both locally and with the Medical School.

• Want the challenge of curriculum delivery, timetabling and assessment work


Clinical Work


You can undertake up to one day per week of clinical work in any specialty that interests you. These sessions are flexible, and there is no out-of-hours commitment.
