As Head of Conduct and Compliance, you'll be responsible for leading and developing a Conduct & Compliance Risk centre of excellence to support robust risk management in alignment with the Group's Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF). Providing thought leadership, insight, and oversight that supports the implementation of the second line of defence and executing the roles and responsibilities defined within the model. Implementing risk policies, appetite, and control objectives to enable the delivery of customer, regulatory, and business strategic outcomes. Deputising for the Conduct & Compliance Risk Director where required.

What you'll be doing:

  • Shapes both short and long -term strategies to align performance management with the desired risk and control culture. ​

  • Implements Conduct & Compliance Risk policies and appetite, ensuring understanding and adherence across Insurance, Pensions and Investments. ​

  • Establishes and monitors guardrails for risk acceptance and mitigation, supporting leadership in making decisions consistent with risk appetite. ​

  • Defines control objectives to ensure business processes and systems operate in a compliant manner. ​

  • Oversees the Risk Management and Control Framework, ensuring risks are measured, monitored, and reported consistently, providing independent challenge where needed. Develops and executes oversight plans to assess compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards. ​

  • Anticipates regulatory changes and interprets requirements accurately. ​

  • Provides strategic oversight of digital and AI initiatives, embedding responsible AI principles and mitigating conduct risk throughout development and deployment.

What you'll need:

  • Technical Rules Specialism​ - Deep expertise in Conduct & Compliance aligned to the IP&I business landscape, including COBS, ICOBs and MiFID. Recognised authority on regulatory rules and compliance.​

  • Compliance Frameworks​ - Subject Matter Expert in compliance frameworks and emerging technologies across financial and non-financial services. Extensive knowledge of laws, regulations, industry standards and best practice. Proven experience in setting group-level policy, defining risk appetite, and leading continuous monitoring and reporting. Skilled in developing control objectives and guardrails to ensure adherence and mitigate risk across Insurance Group.​

  • Strategic Decision Making​ - Makes timely, well-informed decisions, balancing complex trade-offs and interpreting diverse data sources. Anticipates regulatory change and its impact, providing clarity and confidence in material risk appetite decisions. Demonstrates conviction when challenging risk decisions.​

  • Inclusive Leadership - Champion the development of high-performing, diverse teams by fostering an environment where talent is nurtured, empowered, and enabled to thrive.

  • Influencing​ - Trusted risk partner with strong collaboration skills. Supports leadership and risk owners in making decisions aligned to risk appetite. Builds effective relationships across all lines of defence and represents the organisation with confidence to regulators and governing bodies. Acts as a cultural ambassador, promoting transparency and fair customer outcomes.​
