Summary
Job Purpose
Athena Activities Ltd is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Sports Coach to deliver high-quality sports and physical activity sessions to children and young people. The successful candidate will inspire participants to enjoy sport, develop their skills, and build confidence in a safe, inclusive, and positive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging sports and physical activity sessions in line with Athena Activities’ standards
Coach a range of sports (e.g. football, basketball, athletics, multi-skills, PE activities) appropriate to age and ability
Ensure all sessions are safe, structured, and enjoyable
Promote teamwork, fair play, and positive behaviour
Supervise and support participants, ensuring safeguarding and wellbeing at all times
Set up and pack away equipment safely and correctly
Communicate clearly with children, parents, schools, and Athena Activities staff
Follow company policies including health & safety, safeguarding, and risk assessments
Provide feedback on participant progress and session quality
Person Specification
Essential
Level 3 in Sport, coaching and PE
Passion for sport, physical activity, and working with children
Ability to engage, motivate, and manage groups of young people
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Willingness to undergo a DBS check
Desirable
Coaching qualifications (e.g. Level 3 in sports coaching, PE, or activity leadership)
T Level in Education and Early Years (with PE or physical activity placements
Experience working in schools, holiday clubs, or sports clubs
First Aid qualification
Knowledge of multiple sports
Working Conditions
Part-time, casual, or term-time positions available
Sessions may take place before school, after school, during holidays, or weekends
Work may be indoors or outdoors in a variety of settings
