Summary


This is a Senior Clinical Fellow post in General (Internal) Medicine; this is a fixed term post for 12 months with a view to extension to maximum 24 months by mutual agreement.

· Attending/carrying out ward rounds

· Attending MDT meetings

· Supervision of junior doctors

· Undertaking routine clinical procedures on wards

· Seeing ward referrals and outliers

· Opportunity to gain experience in specialty procedures

· Follow up management of acute inpatients

· Prescribing

· Discharge summaries

· Contributing to quality improvement across the pathway

· Working as equivalent to junior registrar level on call.



This is an exciting opportunity to join the team in the newly founded Directorate of General Internal Medicine providing inpatient care for acute general medical admissions on the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital site.

Successful candidates will be encouraged to take specific SPA roles within the department in such aspects as patient safety, clinical effectiveness and education amongst others, which will form part of our service redesign

The successful candidate will be placed in the GIM directorate with clinical duties covering the inpatient wards and outpatient clinics with commitments to participate in the day, weekend, twilight and night medical registrar on call rota.

The post-holders will be expected to support the continuing care of medical in-patients and participate on the medical registrar on call rota with appropriate banding. A Clinical Supervisor will be provided and attendance at the directorate and divisional teaching is expected.

The post-holder will be expected to participate in the Division of Medicine and Emergency Care Grand Rounds and audit meetings and will be welcome to participate in any available further training and study opportunities.
