We are seeking a versatile, proactive, and customer‑focused Stores & General Labour Operative to support day‑to‑day operations across a Defence environment. The role includes a combination of stores responsibilities, general labouring tasks, and customer support, ensuring the effective delivery of logistics services to military personnel and contractors. The successful candidate will be reliable, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and service delivery.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

-Conduct safe and timely completion of physical tasks, including relocation of furniture, equipment, and stores.

-Assist with waste management activities, including collection and disposal.

-Escort visitors/contractors on-site when required.

-Support authorised events and activities across the site.

-Assist with loading/unloading freight and escorting/delivering goods as directed.

-Construct temporary structures or undertake similar labouring tasks as needed.

-Conduct daily accounting, issuing, and receipting of equipment in line with policy.

-Receive, check, and process deliveries, reporting discrepancies where identified.

-Replenish stock, maintain stock levels, and complete stocktakes to ensure compliance.

-Analyse stock holdings against future demand and recommend upscaling or descaling where appropriate.

-Manage customer queries, inbound/outbound shipments, and liaise with internal/external contractors.

-Maintain registers and oversee weekly laundry service processes.

-Ensure accurate data entry and utilisation of IT applications.

-Support change initiatives and business improvement tasks as required.

What We Are Looking For

A reliable, trustworthy, and physically capable individual who can work effectively in a fast‑paced Defence logistics environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:Essential Attributes

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Proactive, adaptable, and able to work under pressure.Good customer‑facing manner with the ability to build productive working relationships.Basic IT literacy, particularly Microsoft Office (Excel desirable).Working knowledge of Health & Safety practices.Good organisational ability and attention to detail.Ability to multi‑task and manage changing priorities.Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Attributes

Experience in a stores, warehouse, or logistics environment.Knowledge of MOD Supply Chain systems or MJDI (training can be provided).Forklift licence/experience (training can be provided).Knowledge of reverse supply chain processes.

Additional Requirements

Must meet MOD security vetting criteria.Must provide proof of right to work in the UK.Required to wear issued company uniform.Occasional local travel may be required to support training requirements.
