Summary
This is an excellent opportunity to start a career in Internal Audit. You will join the Internal Audit Team (Third Line of Defence), which helps the business check that its processes, controls and governance are working efficiently and effectively.
As an Internal Audit Apprentice, you will support the Internal Audit Manager in planning and carrying out audits, learning how risks are identified and managed and gaining experience across different parts of the business. You will work towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification while developing valuable skills in problem-solving, communication, and analysis. No previous experience is needed - just curiosity, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
What you will be doing:
Learning the basics of internal auditing.
Working with teams across the business to understand their processes and controls and where risks might appear.
Helping with audits by gathering information, reviewing documents and asking questions.
Checking whether controls are working effectively and processes are being followed.
Learn ways to spot weaknesses and to suggest ideas/recommend improvements to current processes to reduce risk and make them more efficient.
Taking notes, preparing summaries and supporting the Internal Audit Manager.
Helping draft key documents such as scoping notes, audit reports, and updates for committees.
Shadowing the Internal Audit Manager in meetings with senior stakeholders.
Learn communication skills for working with colleagues across all departments.
Learn problem-solving and analytical thinking.
What we are looking for:
Full training will be provided, but to succeed in this role you should be:
Curious and willing to learn about the business, risk and internal auditing.
Organised with good attention to detail.
Confident communicating with different people.
An active listener, strong team player and willingness to develop new skills and capabilities.
Able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
Comfortable using basic IT tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email).
Holding (or working towards) 5 GCSEs at level 4 or above, including English
and Maths.
Training
Kaplan works in partnership with the Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) to deliver this apprenticeship, providing a comprehensive, blended learning solution incorporating social learning, tutor support and online virtual classes.
Attending scheduled classes via Live Online, apprentices benefit from the wealth of technical expertise and practical sector experience of expert tutors. Classes are interactive and discursive, giving learners quality time with tutors and sector peers to support the development of their knowledge and skills and bring new perspectives to their thinking.
Learners also get access to engaging exercises which help them to apply their learning in real business scenarios. Relevant examples within the context of a financial sector setting offer a proven method of enhancing understanding and application of a broad range of subjects whilst developing vital skills and behaviours.
