Summary
The General Surgery directorate are looking to appoint a number of FYI doctors on bank only contracts.
The post will be available to apply to be on the general surgery bank only pool workforce, in surgical specialties. Placements will be allocated in order of preference and availability at time of appointment.
As such, these posts are suitable for any junior surgeon who wishes to develop experience in core training specialties or who wishes to gain further experience in a dedicated specialty. In addition, there are a number of research and academic opportunities available for successful candidates.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in ward rounds and general ward duties. The postholder accepts that s/he will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation where practicable with senior colleagues. A wide range of practical procedures are undertaken in the Trust which the successfully appointed candidates will have an opportunity to learn.

The post-holder would be expected to provide cover for absent colleagues on planned periods of leave and for short-term unexpected absences to help maintain the continuity of the Service.
Successfull applicants will be added to the bank pool system, whereby communications will be sent out to contact if available shifts to cover. Please note unfilled shifts over a period of time may result in the bank contract being terminated
