Personal Assistant RequiredI am looking for a reliable, caring Personal Assistant with a good sense of humour to support my 36-year-old son, Ross.Ross is severely sight impaired and has short-term memory loss following a brain injury sustained a few years ago. He enjoys a bit of banter, but he also needs calm, quiet time as he can become mentally overloaded. The Role

  • 4–5 hours on Mondays and Fridays
  • Occasional holiday cover may be required
  • Self-employed basis
The role involves supporting Ross to get out and about locally and assisting him with his hobbies and voluntary work.Monday VolunteeringEvery Monday, Ross volunteers on the Lydia Eva, a historic steam-powered drifter owned by the Lydia Eva & Mincarlo Charitable Trust and maintained by dedicated volunteers.Ross thoroughly enjoys helping with maintenance tasks such as rubbing down, sanding and staining. Due to his visual impairment, he requires a PA to act as his eyes and support him with these activities.Other InterestsRoss also enjoys:
  • Stripping cable using a specialist machine (cable supplied by his brother’s electrical company)
  • Making wooden items in a fully equipped barn workshop
You would accompany and assist Ross with these activities as needed.Essential Requirements
  • Full driving licence
  • Own vehicle (fuel costs reimbursed at the standard rate)
  • Friendly, patient and supportive nature
If you are dependable, practical, and have a good sense of humour, this could be a very rewarding role supporting a motivated young man to continue doing the things he enjoys.
