The Role
Are you seeking an exciting new opportunity that will enable you to build on your existing skills and pensions knowledge, while also broadening your management experience within a customer focused service? If so, this could be the role for you.

Working in a busy office environment you will be a key member of the council’s Exchequer Services Management Team, responsible for delivering a comprehensive Pensions service to council and school staff across Bolton. This will include ensuring full compliance with the Council’s Financial Regulations, statutory guidance, and audit recommendations. In addition, you will play a significant role in the management of the wider Exchequer Services functions (Payroll, Pensions, and Accounts Payable), helping to provide an efficient, responsive, and customerfocused service to colleagues across the Council and to external stakeholders.

About You
With a demonstrable knowledge and understanding of relevant policies and legislation, along with excellent communication skills, you will be responsible for the effective operation of the Council’s pensions service, ensuring all statutory pension requirements are fully met. You will plan, prepare, and produce complex reports and strategies to support the delivery of a comprehensive pensions function. You will also require well developed networking and influencing abilities to build and maintain productive relationships with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders. You will bring a strong working knowledge of payroll and pension systems, with experience of Oracle being advantageous, and a thorough understanding of public sector pension schemes.

As part of your application, please submit a supporting statement that clearly outlines your knowledge, skills, and experience in relation to pensions as well as answering the below questions. Upload this document with your application.

1.Describe a specific project where you implemented change and transformation across a team. What was your leadership role, what challenges did you face and what strategies did you put in place to ensure effective team working?

2.Share your experience of researching, writing and presenting complex information. Explain how you ensured the information was understood by a variety of audiences, and whether there is there anything you would do differently next time?

3.Explain how you would ensure the efficiency and effectiveness across Exchequer Services, and what skills you think are important in order to provide a customer focused service that meets statutory deadlines and service level agreements.
