Summary

BMS Commissioning Engineer

Location: Reading / Field-based
Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on experience

The Role

We are looking for an experienced BMS Commissioning Engineer to join our Service & Maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for writing controls software and commissioning Building Management System (BMS) installations, ensuring optimal system performance, energy efficiency, and client satisfaction.

This is a remote-based role, offering autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commissioning of BMS systems across a range of sites
  • Writing, testing, and optimising BMS control software
  • Fault finding, diagnostics, and energy performance reviews
  • Identifying, reporting, and quoting for system repairs, upgrades, and enhancements
  • Supporting continuous improvement of system performance and reliability

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an electrical or engineering discipline
  • Appropriate trade qualification
  • Relevant and current Health & Safety qualification

Experience & Technical Knowledge

  • Proven experience working with Building Energy Management Systems
  • Strong track record of writing BMS software and commissioning BMS installations
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems
  • Experience working directly with clients and stakeholders at all levels
  • Knowledge of standard network architectures (TCP/IP, MS/TP, RS485)
  • Strong understanding of communications protocols and field devices, including:
  • Sensors, valves, actuators, dampers
  • Variable speed drives
  • Switches and relays
Experience with supervisor software Controls hardware and logic expertise, including selection, configuration, installation, and updates
