Job Title: - Registered Nurse- Plastic Trauma Nurse Trust: - Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Location: -Aylesbury (Stoke Mandeville) and High Wycombe (Wycombe Hospital) Pay Rate: £18-£25 Shift Patterns: - Approval for full time (37.5) but flexible to review part time. Placement anticipated for 3 months. Core hours are 08.00-18.00 Mon-Fri but there is scope to be flexible around this. Key days that require cover are Thursdays and Fridays. Being a Registered Nurse - Plastic Trauma Coordinator in the NHS is a versatile and impactful role that spans across various healthcare settings, from hospitals to community clinics. It involves providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages and backgrounds, addressing both acute medical needs and long-term health management. The flexibility in scheduling allows general nurses to balance their professional responsibilities with personal commitments, ensuring they can deliver compassionate and effective care while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. What you can add: Ensure all patients referred to the plastic trauma clinic on SAU are reviewed and assessed by the junior plastics doctor as promptly as possible. Ensure all relevant tests are carried out, specialist tests as well as wound assessments and dressing changes, where appropriate. Promote an environment to provide excellence in nursing practice to enable high levels of clinical skills allowing staff to develop to their full potential. Work with the plastics surgical team to ensure safe practice and care of patients during and after minor plastic procedures Act as a scrub nurse during minor operating procedures in MOPS room Be able to see follow ups patients in SPEAC clinic Once deemed competent, to see trauma patients in SPEAC clinic history taking and patient assessment. Clearly communicate any decision to admit patients with the clinical site team and the SAU nurse in charge Responsibly always supervise all nurses and students adhering to the NMC code of Professional Conduct. Assist in the management of resources effectively, including budget and human resources. Ensure all patients referred to the plastic trauma clinic on SAU are reviewed and assessed by the junior plastics doctor as promptly as possible. Ensure all relevant tests are carried out, specialist tests as well as wound assessments and dressing changes, where appropriate. What youll need: A minimum of 6 months paid experience in an Acute hospital environment within the last 3 years Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices *Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.
