Your new role

  • Provide proactive support to managers on people-related issues, ensuring cases are handled promptly and in line with legal, policy, and organisational standards.
  • Offer informed HR guidance and balanced judgement to help shape and deliver core HR initiatives across the division.
  • Deliver consistent HR services that reflect wider organisational priorities and contribute to long‑term business objectives.
  • Contribute to change programmes such as restructures and workforce transfers, ensuring all activity adheres to statutory requirements.
  • Help drive initiatives aimed at improving employee experience and strengthening engagement across the organisation.
  • Oversee the accuracy and integrity of employee information to support effective workforce planning and reporting.
  • Monitor and summarise trends in key people matters including conduct, attendance, grievances, and performance.
  • Maintain organised and compliant HR records and administrative processes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the broader delivery of HR objectives and organisational outcomes.
  • Provide short‑notice training, coaching, and knowledge‑building sessions for managers and staff where needed.
  • Assist with annual reward cycles by preparing accurate data, documentation, and reports.
  • Contribute to standalone people‑related projects and initiatives as required.
  • Respond flexibly to organisational changes and evolving business priorities.
  • Undertake additional reasonable responsibilities aligned to the needs of the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will be an experienced HR professional who has a proven track record of providing proactive, hands‑on people support to senior stakeholders in fast‑paced, performance‑driven settings. They will demonstrate strong capability across the full spectrum of employee relations, including leading engagement initiatives, managing organisational change projects such as transfers of staff, collaborating with representative bodies, and interpreting UK employment law in everyday operational contexts. The role will also involve frequent travel to various sites across the UK.

  • Proven experience delivering comprehensive generalist HR support at Senior HR Advisor level or equivalent.
  • Confident advising managers on employee relations matters, performance processes, policy development, reporting requirements, and project‑related activity.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate organisational change and manage high‑volume, complex workloads.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to build trust and influence across diverse groups.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Confident working independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word.
  • CIPD qualification (or equivalent) and up‑to‑date understanding of UK employment legislation.
  • Experience operating across multiple sites within a unionised environment.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to support business needs.
