Several Dudley-based special schools are seeking dedicated teachers to join their teams and deliver high‑quality, child‑centred education across a range of specialist provisions.About the Dudley SEND LandscapeDudley has a variety of well-established SEND settings, each supporting different pupil needs. This role may sit within one of the following types of provisions: Autism Specialist SchoolsSupporting pupils with:
- ASC
- Communication and interaction needs
- High levels of structure, routine and sensory regulation
- Speech and language challenges
Many pupils may use visual timetables, communication aids or structured TEACCH approaches.
SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) SchoolsSupporting pupils who may present with:
- Emotional regulation needs
- Attachment and trauma-related behaviours
- Anxiety, low confidence or low school engagement
- Behaviour linked to unmet needs
These settings prioritise relationship‑based practice and therapeutic approaches.
SLD/MLD (Severe or Moderate Learning Difficulties) SettingsWorking with pupils who may have:
- Delayed cognitive development
- Need for repetition, structure and life‑skills learning
- Lower‑level academic targets and highly scaffolded tasks
- EHCPs outlining personalised developmental milestones
PMLD (Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties) ProvisionsSupporting pupils with:
- Complex medical needs
- Physical disabilities or mobility needs
- Communication barriers
- Sensory‑led learning requirements
These classes often involve multi‑sensory teaching and close collaboration with therapists.
Alternative Provision for Permanently Excluded or Vulnerable LearnersSupporting pupils who may have:
- Been removed from mainstream settings
- Experienced high levels of disruption, trauma or crisis
- Barriers to engagement
- The need for intensive mentoring and personalised pathways
All Dudley SEND settings offer small class sizes, high staffing ratios and a warm, inclusive approach where every pupil is valued as an individual.Your Responsibilities
- Deliver inspiring, engaging and personalised lessons
- Support pupils with a range of SEND including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SLD or complex needs
- Work collaboratively with TAs, therapists and leadership teams
- Promote emotional wellbeing, independence and positive behaviour
- Contribute to EHCP reviews and track individual progress
- Use creative, adaptive and therapeutic strategies to meet diverse needs

- QTS or equivalent (ECTs welcome)
- Experience within SEND or a passion to develop specialist skills
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong behaviour management and resilience
