Crynodeb
Here at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, we are proud to provide expert, compassionate care for our local population. We are ranked as the third in the country for research, embedding education and training across the organisation. Our main hub is the Queen Alexandra Hospital, which is one of the largest hospitals on the south coast employing over 8,700 staff. Our patients come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds because it makes our hospital stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for getting it right for patients, colleagues, and our community, you will find a home at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. This is a 10 PA post comprising mostly face to face consultations, though there may also be the opportunity to participate in virtual clinics. Activity will be centred around our Eye Emergency Clinic, as well as Outpatients and may be expanded to support the broad provision of day case and general theatre activity, including intravitreal injection lists. Participation in the first on-call rota is provided for an additional supplement. The post will consist of 8.5 DCC sessions and 1.5 SPA sessions. Depending on individual circumstances, a less-than-full-time job plan may be considered. The Ophthalmology department covers all subspecialty areas including Cornea, Cataract, Diabetes, Glaucoma, Medical Retina, Oculoplastics, Paediatrics, Strabismus and Vitreoretinal. It is proud of a strong reputation for teaching and training and has the additional support of a dedicated research team. The successful applicant will be supported by their consultant colleagues, with a dedicated Emergency Eye Care Lead, in developing their knowledge and skills in Emergency and general ophthalmology.
