Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Upholstery Cutter / Sewing Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately cutting fabrics or materials according to specified patterns and measurements and working as an upholstery sewing machinist using a walking foot machine. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with sewing skills to develop their expertise within a dynamic environment. The successful applicant will play a vital part in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our production process.
Duties
- Measure and mark fabrics or materials based on pattern specifications and production requirements
- Ensure all cuts are accurate, consistent, and meet quality standards
- Organise materials efficiently to minimise waste and optimise workflow
- Sew all aspects of upholstery using different fabrics and leather
- Operate industrial sewing machines, mainly a walking foot sewing machine to sew all aspects of upholstery
- Operate industrial sewing machines to sew fabric and upholstery materials for office furniture.
- Follow technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate stitching and assembly of furniture components.
- Cut, measure, and trim materials to size as required.
- Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring they meet the company’s high standards.
- Maintain sewing machines and equipment, troubleshooting any issues and ensuring optimal performance.
- Collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines and ensure timely delivery of furniture components.
Skills:
- Experience with industrial sewing machines, including overlock and walking foot machines.
- Strong understanding of different upholstery materials, including fabric, leather, and vinyl.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work consistently.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
