Summary
Langabhat Medical Practice is looking for proactive individuals to join our fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team to take on a dual role supporting both our clinical and administrative teams. Main Duties and Responsibilities
Dispensing
Operating procedures
• Process/endorse prescriptions.
• Dispense prescriptions which may include cytotoxics, extemporaneous items and controlled drugs whilst following standard operating procedures.
• Comply with all Controlled Drug (CD) operating procedures.
• Ensure you keep all CD log books up to date.
• Ensure CDs are dispensed following the clear processes for checking and signing prescriptions.
• To ensure the safe and secure handling of medicines on a personal level as well as monitoring and guiding others involved in the process.
• Ensure all drug returns are disposed off in line with the standard operating procedures.
Stock Management
• To maintain effective control of dispensary stock through reconciliation and on going expiry and stock level checks, including controlled drugs, investigating and correcting stock discrepancies in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Ensure the accurate, timely, safe and secure receipt, storage of medicines.
• Resolve discrepancies and problems with supply of goods to ensure continuing availability of medicines for patients, in accordance with standard operating procedures. Eg Incorrect item supplied, incorrect quantity supplied, item missing from order, items to follow required for patients.
• Assemble and/or check compliance aids, on a weekly basis.
• Dealing with invoices and credit notes.
• Maintain manual stock order forms and process orders as required.
• To contribute to the production and implementation of standard operating procedures and assist in the safe, effective delivery of technical services through the use of these standard operating procedures.
• To assist in organisation and prioritisation of the daily workload
• Attend appropriate educational and training events as required.
• Maintain a safe, secure, clean and tidy dispensary whilst complying with health and safety regulations.
• Dispense patient prescriptions as required.
• Basic understanding of stock control and the ordering process.
• Add dispensing stock onto Emis.
• Send and complete tasks as appropriate.
• Support colleagues to process compliance aids as appropriate.
• Support staff at peripheral sites in dispensing and associated tasks.
Administrative Duties
Telephony Duties
• Ensure total familiarity with all systems to enable effective assistance to all queries.
• Answer all incoming calls and deal with in an efficient and friendly manner.
• Transfer calls to appropriate person/site.
• Take messages as appropriate.
• Enter any tasks accordingly in the relevant task user group and deal with any returned tasks as necessary. Mark tasks as completed once dealt with.
• Ensure that instructions to patients are clear, concise and understood, particularly appointments.
• Make calls as required again ensuring concise information is given.
Reception Duties
• Greet patients and visitors at reception and attend to any queries maintaining a high standard of confidentiality at all times.
• Mark patient arrival on computer.
• Enter any tasks accordingly in the relevant task user group and deal with any returned tasks as necessary. Mark tasks as completed once dealt with.
• Answer all incoming calls and deal with enquiry or transfer to appropriate person.
• Dealing with samples handed into reception.
• Hand over prescriptions to patients ensuring correct details.
• Dealing with any prescriptions requested by patient at front desk.
• File Out Of Hours reports accordingly.
• Fill out temporary resident forms and enter details onto computer.
• Prepare registration pack for new patients.
• Enter details of new patient on computer and offer them a NPC appointment.
• Ensure correct name, address, CHI and contact number documented for patients who change address.
