A Vacancy at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a fixed-term consultant child & adolescent psychiatrist post which has arisen due to a staff vacancy. The aim is to recruit later on to a substantive post. It offers a unique opportunity to join an established and dynamic team of 5 Consultant Psychiatrists in Croydon CAMHS, within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be based within the Croydon CAMHS Treatment Team, which focuses on the provision of specific evidence based interventions including CBT, family therapy, IPT and medical interventions such as antidepressants and stimulant medications.. The post will also include providing sessions to ARC (ADHD Medication Review Clinic).
There are five consultant child and adolescent psychiatrists in Croydon CAMHS (a total of 3.8 WTE). We have specialist interests in neurodevelopmental disorders, ADHD, Learning Disabilities and Crisis Care.
The successful applicant will also join the SLaM consultant CAMHS on-call rota
The post holder will provide psychiatric input and supervision with risk management plans to a borough wide weekly emergency rota. There is a weekly rota of Croydon CAMHS consultant psychiatrists who provide emergency support to the Crisis Team, who cover the local Accident & Emergency Department at Croydon University
Hospital.
Consultant Psychiatrists provide cross cover for these duties during leave periods. This is worked out by mutual agreement, and we are very good at maintaining excellent communication and relationships between consultant colleagues in Croydon CAMHS. There is a 45 minute weekly Consultant Psychiatrist meeting to maintain our tight working relationships.

ESSENTIAL
Full GMC Registration with a License to Practice
MRCPsych or Equivalent
(Eligibility for) Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status. If not yet S12/AC approved this would not preclude appointment if otherwise suitable, but gaining such approval must be a priority
Training and Experience
Experience in Outpatient/Community Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Experience of assessing and managing complex co-morbidities
Clinical skills
Excellent leadership skills
Excellent adolescent psychiatric assessment skills
Good ability to relate to children, adolescents and parents
Good ability to work in a team setting
Understanding of safeguarding
Ability to assess capacity and consent
Understanding of how complaints and serious incidents are managed
Up-to-date knowledge and fitness to practice
Expertise in the use and application of The Mental Health Act, and other relevant legal frameworks, in children and young people
Management/Audit
Participation in audit or QI in clinical posts
Teaching
Experience of teaching a range of disciplines
