Hays are partnering with a leading organisation within the supply chain sector to recruit an HR Officer on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. With a long‑established presence and a strong reputation for supporting local communities, they are seeking a dedicated HR professional to join their team as they continue to grow and evolve.
Your new role
As HR Officer, you will work closely with the HR Business Partner to deliver a full range of HR support across several operational sites.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing HR administration including resourcing support, inductions, probation, off‑boarding, retirement, HR KPIs, payroll queries and employee status changes
- Supporting managers with employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary meetings and hearings, taking minutes and drafting documentation
- Assisting with the delivery of engagement, communication and culture‑building initiatives
- Providing HR support for wider HR projects and organisational initiatives
- Advising managers and colleagues on HR policies to ensure consistent and fair application
- Coordinating and delivering training interventions, scheduling sessions and managing training needs identified from annual reviews
- Supporting managers with performance management, absence management and general HR problem‑solving
- Acting as a point of contact for employees, providing guidance and support as required
- Ensuring accurate and compliant record‑keeping of employee data in digital and electronic formats
- Travelling to various local sites as part of the role
What you'll need to succeed
- Third‑level qualification in HR or a Business‑related discipline
- CIPD qualified (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar HR role with exposure to employee relations and HR operations
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities
- Good working knowledge of employment legislation and the confidence to advise managers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Proven ability to build trust and effective relationships with managers and employees
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with resilience and adaptability
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport for site travel
- Flexibility to attend occasional meetings outside standard office hours
