What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Experience leading business analysis across large, complex products using a range of techniques to understand problems and user needs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and clearly communicate requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Skilled in applying analysis tools to identify improvements and make informed recommendations.
  • Proven capability working in agile teams, promoting Agile practices and supporting colleagues' development.
  • Demonstrated leadership within the BA community, including line management, recruitment support and driving continuous improvement.

You and your role


This is a senior BA role in Data Enablement, a critical area driving the department's modernisation agenda.

You'll support teams at the forefront of data transformation, helping shape new data‑enabling products and contributing to the migration and improvement of core analytical tools within the Strategic Modern Analytical Tooling (S‑MAT) programme.

You will lead on business analysis across this area using workshops, interviews and collaborative techniques to understand business problems and user needs

Our BAs work closely with senior technical and business stakeholders. You'll find clear alignment on requirements, acceptance criteria and make sure products support the wider departmental strategy.

You'll be a trusted, expert voice and a senior member of our BA community. You'll champion Agile ways of working, support capability building, and take online management responsibilities. And you'll help colleagues develop their skills, promote best practice and contribute to recruitment and professional development across the function.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home (40%) and some time collaborating face to face in a hub (60%).

Pay: We offer competitive pay for this role of up to £68,205.

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%, worth over £19,758 per year.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
