We're working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Exeter that is looking to appoint a Secondary SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their dedicated support team.
This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by supporting young people with Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and a range of additional learning needs. You'll work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to help students build confidence, resilience, and independence - both academically and emotionally.
The role
As a Secondary SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEN
- Support learners during lessons, interventions, and transitions
- Help students manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies
- Assist with the delivery of tailored interventions and track progress
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals
- Help create a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
About you
We're looking for individuals who are:
- Experienced in supporting young people in education, care, or youth settings
- Calm, patient, and resilient with a proactive approach
- Confident in behaviour management and relationship-building
- Passionate about inclusion and supporting young people to thrive
- In possession of an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
