Summary
Support Worker (REF:BD14 - EM)
This post is to provide support to 3 children. 3 separate posts to employ.
4 hours per week. Hours vary and will be agreed with employer if successful
£12.21 Per hour
I am seeking 3 compassionate and organised Personal Assistants to provide dedicated support to my three children. My kids are all autistic, non-speaking with high support needs and some challenging behaviours.
All three children are in receipt of council funding for 4 hours PA hours per week and one of my children receives funding for 12 hours during school holidays. Ideally I would like all the children to have their 4 hours weekly on the same day (previously worked on Sundays but I am flexible on which weekend day these take place). My daughter's 12hours during school holidays have previously been worked on two weekdays and her usual weekend day to allow for consistency and routine.
The ideal candidate will have experience in autism/ADHD, makaton, objects of reference, attention autism, intensive interaction, challenging behaviours and personal care, with a strong focus on promoting independence and well-being. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to provide me with some respite as i am a single mother with no childcare outside of school hours. The ideal candidate will be able to ensure my children's safety, comfort, and maintain their dignity at all times. The position is paid and involves attending Child in Need meetings on a monthly basis to further support the family.
Duties
Assist clients with personal care routines, including changing pull ups, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
Taking your designated child out on trips I.e. local SEN friendly soft play, Eureka!, swimming, etc.
Monitor health status and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals or family members
Implement behaviour management strategies during times of dysregulation or crisis.
Previous experience in supporting individuals who have autism/ADHD is highly desirable
Knowledge of behaviour management techniques
Certification in first aid and CPR
Valid driving licence with a clean driving record
Access to own vehicle is desirable
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Compassionate nature with excellent communication skills
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for mobility assistance or equipment handling
Experience in childcare is advantageous but not essential
Ability to work weekends and during school holidays is essential.
