Summary
A Personal Assistant is required to support an active and sociable eight‑year‑old boy with autism, living in Falmouth.
He loves spending time outdoors and thrives on activities involving water. Swimming, playing rugby and trips to the beach are some of his favourite things to do, and he is a brilliant swimmer.
He is reasonably independent with personal care and can dress himself after swimming, though he may need a little help with his socks. He also enjoys listening to music, going to the cinema, and playing Minecraft and ROBLOX.
He adores animals, is scared of heights, and is a confident, funny, happy and sociable child who enjoys engaging with the world around him.
Five hours per week are available, with flexible scheduling to suit the candidate’s availability. Some weekend and school holiday availability will be required.
This is a rewarding role, supporting a young person to access the community, enjoy activities, and helping his family balance their daily lives.
The rate of pay starts at £13.50 per hour with potential increase based on skills and experience.
Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people is essential. A full driving licence is desirable. Experience with complex medical needs is helpful but not essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
