Teacher of EnglishYour new companyHays Education is supporting a Cheltenham/Gloucester-based secondary school in the recruitment of a dedicated and engaging Teacher of English to join their team from February half term. The school is well‑established, with a supportive leadership team and a strong commitment to delivering high‑quality teaching and learning. English is a key subject within the curriculum, and you will be joining a collaborative department focused on raising achievement and fostering a love of literature and language.
Your new roleAs a Teacher of English, you will deliver high‑quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, following the school's schemes of work and assessment policies.
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons
- Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback
- Support students preparing for GCSE English Language and Literature
- Maintain a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment
- Contribute to departmental collaboration and planning
This is a full‑time teaching role starting from February half term, offering continuity for classes leading into the exam period.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
- Experience teaching in a UK secondary school
- The right to work in the UK
- An Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one
- A passion for English and a commitment to raising standards
- ECTs are welcome to apply
