Summary

About us

As a people centred and values based organisation Salford Council really is a great place to work. With a positive permission culture and can do approach, we embrace innovation and encourage high performance. Our values of Pride, Passion, People and Personal Responsibility underpin everything we do and our employees demonstrate these values every day. We take pride in working together as #OneTeam by always supporting one another - that's the spirit of Salford!

Project Genesis is our Finance and Procurement programme which is replacing our legacy SAP system with TechnologyOne’s CIA platform. As this role is to cover maternity leave at a critical stage of delivery, we are looking for an experienced project manager who can step in quickly and take ownership from day one.

It is essential that as part of your application you must provide a detailed summary of your relevant experience, including the financial system you have implemented. Failure to provide this information means that we will be unable to consider your application.

About you

We need someone with substantial experience leading, driving and managing digital implementations for financial systems, ideally within large-scale transformation programmes, as well as knowledge of financial processes. Because you will be joining at an advanced point in the programme, it is essential that you have successfully delivered at least one major financial system implementation specifically TechnologyOne, or a comparable enterprise-level finance solution. Experience of managing User Acceptance Testing, would be desirable.

You will be able to build credibility quickly with senior leaders and staff, manage multiple stakeholder relationships, and confidently navigate complex and sensitive issues. Outcome-focused, resilient and positive, you will be comfortable leading change and working collaboratively across organisational boundaries.

About the role

You will project manage the delivery of the replacement of our existing legacy ERP system, working alongside and reporting to the Programme Manager. You will implement a new system across all agreed services and with multiple stakeholders, using Salford’s co-design methodology, to agreed timescales.

You will work closely with Senior Responsible Officers, project leads and project officers, and will provide assurance that the programme of work is on target for delivery.

What will you get from us?

You’ll be part of a supportive, nationally recognised Digital, Data and Technology department, where everyone is encouraged and empowered to personally develop and achieve their best in an inclusive and flexible environment

What we need from you

The PMO is a team who demonstrate the following values and behaviours, at an appropriate level for their grade:

  • Be credible - have personal and professional credibility at all levels of the organisation, showing how project management can help deliver excellent services.
  • Be values-based - follow and show the City Council’s values.
  • Be flexible and driven - help develop the project management office, have the knowledge and skills, and be flexible to handle changing demands on time and resources.
