This is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking underwriting team with a strong footprint across the SME and mid-market space.
As a Senior Underwriter, you’ll be responsible for driving new business growth across the Yorkshire and North East broking market. This is a role that blends technical underwriting expertise with commercial acumen and relationship-building.
Key responsibilities include:

- Underwriting and pricing SME and mid-market Property & Casualty risks.
- Developing broker relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
- Solving complex risk challenges with tailored solutions.
- Collaborating with internal teams to support strategic growth initiatives.

Career Progression
This role offers multiple career pathways:

- Step up to Senior Underwriter: Ideal for established Underwriters ready for more autonomy and influence.
- Business Development Manager route: For those with a strong new business focus, there’s potential to transition into a BDM role within 6–12 months.
- Remote-based option: Experienced Underwriters based in the North East can work remotely, spending time in broker offices with occasional travel to Leeds (fully expensed).

To be considered you will need to have proven experience in Property & Casualty underwriting, ideally with a focus on new business, strong broker relationship management skills, commercial awareness and a proactive mindset.
You will be rewarded with a competitive salary and benefits package with good opportunities for development along with the autonomy to make decisions.
