Summary

Weston College is seeking an Inspiring, forward-thinking leader to join us as the Deputy Director - Apprenticeships.

This pivotal role is an excellent opportunity for a senior professional with a strong understanding of apprenticeships, government policy, and quality frameworks - and the ambition to influence strategy at a college recognised nationally for excellence.

This is a full-time position, working 37 hours per week.

Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare.

Key Responsibilities

As Deputy Director - Apprenticeships, you will play a key role in shaping, delivering and continuously improving the College's apprenticeship strategy. Working closely with senior leaders, curriculum teams and external partners, you will:

  • Ensure the College's apprenticeship programmes are aligned with local, regional and national skills priorities.

  • Contribute to the College's strategic plan and OFSTED readiness for skills judgements.

  • Oversee quality assurance processes, including audits and performance monitoring.

  • Drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment across the provision.

Required skills and qualifications

We are looking for someone who will bring credible senior leadership experience within apprenticeships or work-based learning, alongside a deep understanding of quality, compliance and employer engagement. Essential skills and qualifications include:

  • A Teaching Qualification and teaching experience within further or higher education.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and Partnership building skills.

  • Examples of work demonstrating an innovative approach to apprenticeship delivery.

  • Ability to manage budgets and deliver against KPIs.

You will also be someone who is committed to your own continuous professional development and to role-modelling Weston College values.
