Summary


The Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Role entails completing a PG Cert Promoting Psychological Wellbeing at the University of Lancashire while gaining clinical experience working in the NHS Blackpool Talking Therapies Service to undertake clinical work.

The role involves:

Completing Welcome and Assessment calls to triage clients who self refer to the Blackpool Talking Therapies service.
To offer low intensity (Step 2) treatment to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
Making onward referrals to other services.
Delivering clinical sessions either Face to Face, over the Telephone or via Web Camera.
Delivering step 2 groups both online and face to face.
Managing a caseload and ensuring a high standard of record keeping.
Engaging in regular case management and clinical supervision.
Managing clients who present with risk and responding to this in a timely way in line with service guidelines.
Completing all academic components of university course.

We require flexible and enthusiastic applicants who have mental health experience and would like to train to be Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs). The successful applicant will join NHS Blackpool Talking Therapies Service.

Blackpool Talking Therapies operates a self-referral pathway, and the team includes CBT Therapists, Counsellors and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners providing psychological assessment and therapies to people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. We also run Stress Control courses, MBCT Courses, offer online therapy, EMDR, and couples counselling. The service includes Employment Advisors who offer employment support to our clients.

Applicants will need to have the necessary experience and academic ability to attend and complete a post graduate Talking Therapies PWP training course.
The training takes place over a full academic year while meeting the course practical requirements through the placement with the Talking Therapies Service.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract for the training year.

NHS Blackpool Talking Therapies Service operates from a number of community bases across the Blackpool area. We offer interventions and psychological therapies across Step 2 and 3, and have developed pathways with physical health services in line with the National NHS Talking Therapies Long Term Conditions programme. We receive self-referrals and referrals from health care professionals for the Long-Term Conditions arm of the service.

You must be available to start the University Course for this role which will start Monday 16th March 2026.
