Summary

GENERAL DUTIES: Arrange appointments with patients accurately and monitor flow of patients into consulting and treatment rooms when they attend the practice. Monitor effectiveness of appointment system and report any problems or variations required. Ensure that patients without appointments but who need urgent consultation are dealt with in a logical and non-disruptive manner. Ensure correspondence, reports, results, etc, are filed in correct record. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensure procedures are completed. Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts for same. Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors. Enter requests for home visits including all relevant information and where necessary refer to doctor on-call. Action requests for ambulance transportation in line with practice protocol. Ensuring all messages and relevant information are recorded for the doctors and Nurse Practitioners attention. Following start and end-of-day procedure when called upon to do so Any other duties requested at the discretion of the Practice Manager.
