Summary


We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Highly Specialist CAMHS clinician to come and work in the socially and ethnically diverse borough of Newham. The successful applicant will have significant expertise in working with children and young people with learning disability, autism or both, and robust knowledge of behavioural approaches, including Positive Behaviour Support. This post is open to applicants from all disciplines including Behaviour Analyst, Family & Systemic Psychotherapist, Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health or LD) and Social Worker.

The purpose of the role will be to:

a) provide treatment to CYP with LD, autism or both, their families and networks through complex care co-ordination

b) ensure this care is based on contemporary evidence-based practice

c) provide an expert clinical resource in understanding CYP’s behaviours of concern and complex presentations, both directly in clinical work and indirectly within NDT and wider CAMHS, and to multi-agency partners

d) provide Line Management and clinical supervision within NDT

e) support ongoing service development

This post is part of a comprehensive Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service, within East London NHS Foundation Trust. This is a community-based postin Newham CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT), whichrequires a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management. The post holder will conduct specialist assessments and offer evidenced based clinical interventions to children and young people with autism, learning disability or both.

The post holder would directly contribute to and support a positive working environment within a multidisciplinary team and will be expected to offersupervision and management to more junior clinical staff (band 7 and below). The post holder will be supervised by a senior colleague within the team. There is a strong commitment to clinical supervision and professional development within CAMHS and the wider NHS Foundation Trust including many learning and teaching opportunities.
