Royal Holloway Business School
As an AACSB accredited Business School, we are driven by social purpose. We are committed to inspiring and empowering students and staff to realise their full potential and to make positive change. Royal Holloway, University of London, has been a leader in progressive education. Therefore, ethics, sustainability and inclusion are core parts of our distinctive offering.
This is an exciting time to join us as we are looking to build on our current successes, our heritage and our strategic location, to become a leading School nationally and globally by investing in all areas of activity. We offer programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, both nationally (from our Surrey and Central London campuses) and internationally through our global partnerships with the University of London. We aim to provide an outstanding student experience, which teaches the skills needed to join leading organisations or set up new businesses. Additionally, we are developing an ambitious portfolio of post-experience programmes.
Our research is challenge-led and world leading. The most recent Research Excellence framework (of 2021) indicated that 82% of our research was 'world-leading or internationally excellent', placing us in the top quartile in terms of outputs in the UK. This research, which is led by three Research Centres, aims to deliver impact and be externally funded.
The Candidate
Technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation software, machine learning, blockchain and cloud computing are reshaping professional practice in both accountancy and finance. In line with our commitment to preparing graduates for the future world of work, the Department of Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) invites applications for a research-active Lecturer or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to design and deliver innovative, technology-focused modules and to make a significant contribution to the Department’s portfolio of professionally accredited programmes. We welcome applications from candidates specialising in the application of technology to accountancy and finance, including the ability to contribute to modules incorporating Bloomberg. This role offers an excellent opportunity to shape the future of accounting and finance education within a dynamic, research-intensive academic environment.
The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, maintain an active research profile, and participate in departmental and school administration, including public engagement activities. Applicants will be invited to show how their research interests complement those within the Department/School and the successful candidate will have a track record of (or demonstrate potential for) impactful internationally recognised research. Evidence of developing funding applications and an emerging track record of success is highly desirable.
We are strongly committed to the development of our staff and provide a supportive environment to enhance teaching, research, and leadership skills. In return, we offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
The post is based in Egham, Surrey at the main campus of the University, but you might be required to undertake some work at other locations including at our Central London Campus.
